On behalf of the Friends of B.I.S. e.V., we welcome you to our webpage. Here you can inform yourself about news and events, download request forms, brochures and flyers, support us by donating or contact us about ideas and concerns.

 

It is our pleasure and honour to support the Berlin International School students in every way we can. We believe, that with strong commitment and a strong school community, the students can get the best out of their school careers. It is our belief that, next to academic studying, a healthy balance must be kept for the students to find their strenghts and weaknesses. We are committed to support educational and extra-curricular opportunities for our students and thus enable them to further their skills and experiences - all in the spirit of the PYP/MYP/IB Programs.

Who are the "Friends of B.I.S." (Frobis)?

 

The Friends of B.I.S. e.V. (formerly known as Förderverein der Berlin International School e.V.) is a charitable association established in 1999 by members of the B.I.S. community.

 

What is the purpose of Frobis?

 

Frobis main purpose as "Förderverein" is to support the school and its students. This has been done in many ways in the past years. The Frobis bylaws give a detailed description of the associations purposes. The operation of Frobis concentrate on GISST support, individual support, acquisition of hardware for the school and subsidizing student projects.

 

How is Frobis strucutred?

 

Frobis has three main organs: the board of directors, the general assembly and the advisory committee. The board of directors is responsible for managing the association and conducting its business. The general assembly is made up of all members of the association - its main duties are the election of the board of directors, approving annual reports and adopting resolutions and ammendments to the associations bylaws. The advisory committee is usualy made up of representatives of different stakeholders, advising the board of directors on various issues regarding the association and/or projects of the assoication.

 

How does Frobis fund its operations?

 

Frobis has three main sources of funds: the annual membership fees, donations and funds from the annual Silent Auction. Frobis is always happy to receive one-time donations - these are tax deductible, as we are permitted to hand out donation certificates.
